Dixons Expecting A 3D Christmas In 2010

Electronics giant Dixons said revenue across its stores were up 1pc during the first half of the year. This revenue was driven by a demand for televisions in the run-up to the World Cup in South Africa.
Some analysts called the World Cup a “bonus Christmas”, but the group expects that demand for items such as 3D TVs to boost revenue this December.
Over one million 3D television sets were sold in Europe during 2010 – around 5 percent of all the televisions sold. That number is expected to double in 2011 with 19 million 3D TV sets are forecast to be sold in Europe.
The group said it was on track to deliver £50m of cost-savings in the current financial year.
